Honored Doctors

Awarding the titles of honored doctors and professors of the Azerbaijan State Academy of Physical Culture and Sport to prominent people who have made special contribution to national and world sports has become a tradition. By the decisions of the Academy’s Board of Studies, in 1994, Doctor of the Marmara University of the Republic of Turkey, Professor Ahmad Hamdi Turgut, and President of the International Olympic Committee Juan Antonio Samaranch, in 1995, President of the International Boxing Association (AIBA) Anvar Chowdhury and President of the European Amateur Boxing Association Emil Jechev, in 2000, President of the European Olympic Committee Jacques Rogge, in 2005, President of the World Taekwondo Federation Chung Won Cho, in 2007, President of FIFA Joseph Blatter, President of the European Olympic Committee Patrick Hickey, and the Ist Vice[1]President of AIBA Gafur Rahimov, in 2008, AIBA President Ching Kuo-Wu, in 2012, Professor of the German Sports University Manfred Lammer, in 2014, President of the Lithuanian Olympic Academy Arturas Poviliunas and IOC President Thomas Bach, in 2015, Vice-President of the European Fair Play Movement Erdogan Aripinar, in 2016, President of the International Paralympic Committee Sir Philip Craven, and in 2017, President of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) Morinari Watanabe were awarded the title of Honored Doctor of the Academy.
