Master students get practice at English Sport Institute
Rector of the Azerbaijan State Academy of Physical Education and Sports Fuad Hajiyev, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Tahmina Taghi-zada, Director of the Master's Program in Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Professor Michael Paul Loosemore and students of the MSc program visited the English Institute of Sport.
For more than 20 years, the English Institute of Sport has been a leading scientific institution providing scientific, technological and medical support to the British Olympic and Paralympic teams. Currently, the institute cooperates with more than 40 sports federations.
During the visit ASAPES leadership got acquainted with the organization of medical examinations of athletes by a multidisciplinary team, pre-competition and post-competition examinations, training programs of the British Boxing Federation athletes.
As a member of the Board of the Azerbaijan Boxing Federation Fuad Hajiyev has been discussed the opportunities for cooperation between the federations with Head Coach of GB Boxing Gary Hale, coaching consultant Richie Woodhall, sports psychologists, nutritionists, and performance coaches, Ian Gatt, chief physiotherapist of the GB Boxing, as well as teacher of upper limb injuries and their rehabilitation module.
In addition, students studying in the in Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation MSc program were given detailed information on injuries specific to boxing, their prevention and rehabilitation, nutrition, and psychological support for athletes.
