Information about the "DOUBLE DIPLOMA MASTER'S PROGRAM" for the specialization "Sports Management" jointly organized by ASAPES and Coventry University

This program is a study program that offers various opportunities for students who want to specialize in sports and management. The "Sports Management" specialization teaches students who want to pursue a career in the sports sector the basic principles and applications of sports management, preparing them for sports clubs, federations, recreation centers, sports agencies and other sports organizations.

The DUAL DEGREE MASTER'S PROGRAM allows students to obtain a degree from both ASAPES and Coventry University. This program provides students who meet the graduation requirements of both higher education institutions the opportunity to receive two degrees. This means that students have a wide experience and knowledge base by studying from two famous and well-known educational institutions.

The Master Program in Sport Management is offered in the international language of sport, i.e. English. Led by world-class international experts in sport management science as well as local faculty and sport business leaders, the program has continuously evolved over time and now offers students a unique educational experience. Students have various opportunities to participate in valuable ‘real-life’ projects, activities, and experiences in order to be prepared for working successfully in youth and community sports as well as the multi-faceted professional sports industry at an international level. By gaining an in-depth understanding of the peculiarities in core areas such as leadership and human resource management, economics, marketing and sponsoring, entrepreneurship, law, and organizational behavior in sports, the Academy’s alumni are now fully equipped in order to successfully manage the (international) business of sports.

The objectives of the program are:

  • to enable students to critically reflect upon a broad range of theories and practices that enhance their capacity to successfully work as sport management experts;
  • to enable students to systematically and innovatively manage a broad range of complex issues in sport management by engaging with current research and professional practice;
  • to develop students with the capability of solving actual problems by applying their sport management skills in a contemporary and global setting;
  • to develop students with skills that enhance effectiveness and employability while providing a foundation for continuous professional development and lifelong learning.

After having successfully completed the program, students will be able:

  • to show independent thinking and challenge existing approaches from different perspectives;
  • to critically analyze information in order to solve complex problems in the business of sports;
  • to critically review the development of their own professional practice;
  • to demonstrate effective leadership, communication, negotiation and organizational skills;
  • to communicate arguments and ideas in a format suitable for the engagement of an academic and professional audience.

The program offers a number of core elements for successful employability, including:

  • well-structured, supported and assessed work-based learning;
  • the development of high-level employability-related transfer skills;
  • continuous progress monitoring;
  • personal and professional development planning;
  • individually-tailored, integrated career planning and preparation for employment;
  • support structures for the transition into employment.

These core elements for successful employability are based on key deliverables, including:

  • work-based learning and research as an integral part of several courses;
  • industry-linked projects providing the opportunity to gather skills in project management, costumer and key account management, as well as written and verbal communication;
  • teaching by sport management researchers and business leaders with comprehensive experiences in managing the business of sports;
  • support for transition working through experienced and well-connected academic advisors

Module abroad

A core part of the program is a field trip abroad. Recent field trips were organized to UK. Students will get a chance to study a module in one of the leading (sport) universities, visit sport organizations and venues (such as Wimbledon, the Wembley Stadium, etc.), see the legacy of major sport events (e.g. the Olympic Games) and learn from international experts.

Explore some of the leading sport institutions and learn about best practices and different approaches to manage sport clubs, sport organizations and sport facilities.
